At Refuge Homes, the houses we build restore dignity, uplift communities, and support ministries doing life-changing work. Fortunately, we’re able to do this work thanks to the generosity of our impact investors.
One of the ways our impact investors support us is through donor-advised funds (DAFs). These giving vehicles allow individuals and families to set aside charitable capital, invest it wisely, and direct it toward causes they care about.
What Are Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)?
If you’re not familiar with the term, you can think of a DAF as a charitable investment account. When you put funds in a DAF, you can use those funds for impact investing (i.e., investments that grow over time and go towards meaningful, mission-aligned projects).
When you practice impact investing using a DAF, you get to support your cause and your money continues to grow, so you can continue to do good.
As a side note, we have a DAF for Refuge Homes, where we raise money to support nonprofits, like those we’ve mentioned on this website.
Impact Investing That Multiplies Good
When you direct your DAF toward an impact investment with Refuge Homes, you’re contributing to construction, restoration, and long-term housing solutions. And because it’s an investment, it can continue to grow, enabling you to reinvest in doing more good work down the road.
The NCF and Our Friend, Richard Newton
We’ve partnered with one of the largest sponsors of DAFs, the National Christian Foundation of the Carolinas (NCF Carolinas). This partnership wouldn’t have happened without Richard Newton. He’s the regional director at NCF Carolinas. And he’s been a wonderful friend to us over the years. Blake Anderson, one of our partners at Refuge Homes, had this to say about him…
“Richard is an awesome person. He has such a warm, welcoming personality. Anyone who meets with him feels better about themselves and the world–he’s just a positive force for good. If there’s something good or meaningful happening in Raleigh, Richard probably knows about it.
We’ve been honored to get to know him and see the impact he’s making in the local community. He’s been a big fan of what we’ve been doing for years. And we’re grateful for his support, friendship, and mentorship.”
